The french cut where the waist band is so high that the waist looks smaller and the hips appear larger just like the french cut panties.
But of course I never needed those.

Right off you do not say if you are petite, average or tall nor if your are narrow or wide chested. Body balance makes all the difference.
Say you are 5'6" which is about average height. Wide chest - say 34B up with 32 panty - Say you have no waist to speak of. Then I would suggest you go for the typically modern low cut bikini.
The wide area between your navel and panty line will give the appearance of more hip area and give the appearance of thicker thighs.
If you are wise then move away from the ordinary to some unique designer bikini styles that will ensure that you have a unique holisticaly balanced look that will hide your narrow hips. Use the keywords - unique designer bikinis in Yahoo.

A skirtini is best. It's flouncy and fuller. A bikini (string especially) would make you look worse, nearly anorexic, and you don't want that. Also, wear a good sandal that has a bit of a heel, it makes your hips sway more and the flounce on the skirtini will float and give the illusion of fuller hips and rounded bottom.

Try one with a little skirt, or flounce. The skirt will not be as long as the panty, it will be a bit shorter. Check some of the magazines with bathing suit issues. They often show different styles and how they enhance different body types.

bikini bottom that look like hip huggers, if you have large hips and you want them skinny looking go with a high strap..

a skirtini.. which is a regular swimsuit bottom w/ a skirt that is a bit shorter than the bottoms which will accentuate hips and make them look bigger.
