Xanax is very good for anxiety but it does not work good as an anti-depressant. I take 3 mgs of xanax a day,(1mg every 8 hrs)
It works but it is addictive but as my doctor has informed me over the past 9 years that i have been taking it..If you take an addictive medicine, if you really need it you can not get addicted to it. but
if you take it & really don't need it you can get addicted to it. Take it as it is prescribed, please don't double up or take more than the doctor has prescribed it. If you don't have anxiety or panic attacks, and you have depression, you need to discuss with your doctor an alternative medicine such as Zoloft, Paxil, Cymbalta or Celexa. I have taken all four. I have had best results with Celexa. When I tried Cymbalta, I felt like I was going crazy, so I went back to taking Celexa 20mgs at bedtime.
One more note about xanax..make sure you never run out, since it is so addictive, if you run out and can't get in to see your doctor for another script call the nurse, you can have a heart attack from rapid detox..(not to scare you but that was important for me
to tell.)

It's drug used to treat anxiety and anti-depressant. Check out site below to see if you should take it. These drugs are habit-forming and yoga or meditation might be better alternative. What about herbs?
