I own an Intex above ground pool and have the worst luck with it! I clean it daily and I am constantly testing the water, adjusting the chlorine and ph level, and run the filter as recommended. I also add drops to stop the growth of algae on a daily basis. No matter how much time I spend on this pool it always ends up nasty and algae filled. Does anyone else have a pool like this and what kind of problems have you had?

This does not sound like the issue is with the pool. Pool care is not easy and there is no hard and fast rule on how to keep the pool clean.

It sounds like you are a first time pool owner. Find a local pool supply company, perhaps the people you bought the pool from. Ask them for advice and have some professional water tests run. If you go to the place you bought it, they may even run them for you at no charge. Based on what you can find out about the water an experienced pool person should be able to help you find the right combination necessary to keep your pool clear.

The basic problem is that those silly "filter" systems are completely inadequate. The only chance you have to maintain the pool is to run the thing 24/7. But if you do that the pumps burn up in short order. So you wind up buying half a dozen of them a year (provided Wally World has them in stock.) If you live in an area where the water temperature stays cooler you might have a reasonable chance. But if you live in a hot weather area, as I do, you can pretty much forget it. Unfortunately, the way the things are made, it's pretty much impossible to put a "real" filter system on one of them. And it would be like putting a five hundred dollar frame around a three dollar picture anyway! All this is IF you luck out and get one that the air ring doesn't leak air out of. "Saving" money at Wally World--- ain't it great?

You need to drain the water and start over. Clean it thoroughly with a bleach/water mix. Its not the pool, it's probably not the chemicals but rather your over-usage of them.

I got one. I just keep the chlorine tablets in it and it works fine for us.
