Current (aka checking) account is an account from which you can withdraw at any time. Typically, checking accounts do not pay interest, although some banks offer interest-bearing checking accounts. Savings accounts have limited checking privileges; you can still withdraw, but you lose interest on the amont withdrawn.

There may be other quirks depending on where in the world you are.
