He's a professional racing driver fro Italy. He started in Formula 1 in Europe in the early 90's. After a rough start with low ranked teams, he went across the Atlantic to race in the American CART racing league. After winning back-to-back championships (97-98), he returned to Formula one in 1999 with the Williams team. After another fruitless year in F1, he once again returned to the CART league in the US. Sadly, in 2001 he lost both legs in a high-speed accident while racing. He has since occasionally raced in a modified car, equipped with hand controls for the throttle. Hope this helps.
