Depending upon the mailing method.

If a letter were mailed certified, with a delivery confirmation slip; or via ups or other package service it can be tracked.

Have you tried contacting your local post office? There is a UsPostal site that may have some answers for you. (usps.com)

You may also want to consult your local social security office or visit their website at ssa.gov for assistance.

The ONLY Place that would have that kind of information is the Social Security Office.

If they used a tracking number at all.

I have heard lately that alot of SSI checks have been delayed.

Contact YOUR local US Post Office and ask them. They might have an answer faster than Social Security would.

it will probably come tomorrow.

I know it is a little bit of a hassle but please convince your mother to open a bank account and sign up for direct deposit. She will be guaranteed to have the money exactly when she is supposed to and nobody can steal it from her mail box, it wont be misdelivered or held up by the post office.

It is more secure. It is faster. It is guaranteed.

It was probably delayed. For the future, why don't you help your mom set up automatic deposit into her checking account? She would get it faster than a check and it would never get lost.

they will re-issue and cancel the 1st check, but if she cashes both checks, it is fraud and they will take it from her and freeze the bank acct.
