Any high speed connection is vulnerable to this (it's most likely adware/spyware), since you're always connected (as long as the computer is on). There are plenty of ways to simply remove it. The Yahoo! toolbar comes with Anti Spy, which is not bad, if you keep it updated. www.trendmicro.com is another very good site and it's free too. It's also a good idea to delete your temporary internet files once a week or so, since they're basically just junk and it's real easy to attach adware/spyware to them. Finally, invest in a popup blocker. The Yahoo! toolbar comes with a good one. If you're getting popups that come through despite the blocker, you likely have adware/spyware.

I had the same problem. Well, the easiest way is to download a lot of toolbars like Yahoo toolbar, google toolbar, ICQ toolbar, and turn the pop-up blocker on on all of them. And turn n the pop-up blocker in internet explorer, or whatever you are using. Than, if they are still showing, check the websites u are going to. Like, if I went to yahoo, i didnt have any pop-ups. And if i go to another website just to play a game, the popups are... wel, poping up.....
Than, try to remember what websites u get pop-ups on, and try 1 time not to go to those websites. If there is no pop-ups, that means that those bwebsites have a lot of Spam in them.
By the way, i have DSL high speed too, and i had this problem.
If nothing works, try this. Lets say you are using internet explorer. Try to change to AOL,firefox, anytrhing.
If nothing (STILL) works, try to internet sequrity shield, wich i am almost sure you have. Because some of the pop-ups contain spam and viruses, and that can block.
After that if you are still getting popups, well, i donno what to say.....

It's called a popup blocker.. this is the best www.popupstopper.com if you still get popups, chances are you have spyware and adware that causes it. Which can install itself, and is undetected. Oh and don't get Firefox, it sucks.. get IE7 from Microsoft's website if you want to get a new browser. It's better than Firefox and IE6.

Do not use Internet Explorer especially with high-speed. I had my computer for about 5 months and when I finally decided to either renew Norton or go free (AVG Free) and I found 47 viruses (whoa). I switched to Firefox and love it. My mom has had Netscape (browser) since 2003 and her "pop-up" meter says something like "1886 Pop-ups Blocked" and I am not lying. Trust me.
HIGH SPEED INTERNET IS WAY TOO VULNERABLE

Nope, quit downloading stuff and stay off of porn sites. That is caused by spyware or adware. Some scanners don't catch specific things. Companies pay to have their spyware not detected, so be carefull. Check your startup by going to MSCONFIG, and unchecking all start up files. That will stop most of the pop ups.

If you have a PC get rid of crappy Internet Explorer or Netscape and get Firefox. If you have a chance to swap computers get a Mac and use Firefox or Safari. Set your pop-up blockers and get rid of Kazaa.

I'm in doubt that it is DSL fault.
I'm sure, there is some BHO firing popups.
Please check your computer with some antivirus + adaware + spybot.
Install and tune firewall to be defended against such software in the future.

I did when I first started using DSL. I had to set my settings to block pop ups. Yeah, it's pretty weird. I never had this problem with cable.
