He never offers to pay for me when we go out on my birthday. We knew each other for 13 years, so no know it all snide responses like "He doesn't owe you anything". What happened to old fashioned caring and courtesy. This year and the last two years he has gotten me nothing for my birthday, in addition to my graduation party. Do you think it's me?

Some people aren't good at presents, so unless you see him getting presents for everyone else and not you, don't assume it has anything to do with you. Maybe he doesn't have much money. Maybe he doesn't know what to get people. You have to look at the whole picture of how good a friend he is. If this is his only flaw, just decide to live with it and don't have any expectations. But if he is basically self centered, do you really want him for a friend? You have to decide. He's not likely to change, so either accept him as he is or move on.

I seriously doubt it's you. And I agree how rude. Well he's obviously very self centered. Try this next time around try one of two choices ask jokingly "hey man, we going out this year again I sure do enjoy when its YOUR turn to buy" laugh along maybe he'll get the hint OR when you go out on your day and the check comes say to the witress "that goes to my friend here its my birthday" try it and Im sure he'll get the hint otherwise stop treating him. I mean you can only give so much hun, ppl have to give back u know?

Are you a girl or guy? If you are a girl, then he should get you something. If you are a guy, then he shouldn't. Guys don't get guys other stuff... but I mean, yah it is your BIrthday/Graduation etc.. so it is weird.
Or if you are a girl, its maybe cause he doesn't want to think he has a crush on you or vice versa? Maybe.. I am not sure though.

Maybe he`s too broke.or he`s a user. or he just does`nt care. so stop enabling him and stop paying for HIM, and maybe he`ll get the picture. maybe...........
