I live in Dallas and it's alright. I moved here from Houston so I've noticed the difference. People are nicer, but usually in a fake sort of way. The air is cleaner, and most citizens here obey traffic laws so that's nice. Also the city in general is much cleaner and kept-up than a city of its size. The economy also is alright...everything about this place is just okay. Nothing speical about it, but no reason to hate it. But a big plus is that you have a little country, and a little city all rolled into one place. It keeps things a little interesting.

If you're young and looking for a place to live and work then Dallas is an excellant choice.
The employment situation is good and, if you're willing to be an urban pioneer, there's even modestly priced housing. But even the more pricey parts of town are still, gnerally speaking, less costly than LA or NYC.
There are more restaurants per capita in Dallas than any other city in the USA and the despite Austin's reputation as the Music city of Texas there are, I am told, as many music venues in Dallas.

Are you visiting or moving?
There's lots to do in the Dallas area. When you look up things to do there, be sure you're also looking at Fort Worth, Arlington, and the other surrounding areas in the DFW metroplex.
Dallas has many of the conveniences of most large metropolitan areas, but also has a slower pace. It's very easy to get out to the more rural areas and enjoy the laid back life styles.
Good Luck!

I've lived here for 3 years and I love it. I am originally from San Diego, Cal. There is a lot to do and see here in Dallas and job opportunities galore. Its a great place to buy a home and raise kiddos.

I've lived here for over 20 years and I definitely like it. The summers are way too hot, but there's lots of entertainment and a good job market.
