Although I'm not a Reiki master, I've studied it for a lot of years. I've also have gotten tons of reiki sessions. I have no idea about the person who said it "hurt like hell", but it doesnt even involve pressure. Its mainly a laying of hands on certain energy spots on the body and the Reiki master will channel energy through them into your body. You should find it to be a very relaxing state and a spiritual one.

Hi. I have my level one and there is not actual touching and the touching that does happen is light. It is about energy and chakras. I think the people who said it hurt experienced rolfing not reiki. If you are open to the experience you can get alot out of Reiki but as soon a you close your mind you miss out. Listen to your body and your emotions. Close your eyes and if you see colours or animals or stuff like that tell your practitioner. They can help interpret these things and it will most likely make alot of sense. The Reiki master I learned from was also a shaman. It's one of the most helpful things I've ever learned.

The youngest author of an article to be published in JAMA was a 14 year old girl who disproved Reiki. The Reiki "masters" were unable to determined (when blindfolded) whether or not there was a body under their hands. THey performed less than 50% correct. Save your money, if you have a true medical problem go to a real doctor.

I don't know who said it hurt like hell, it's only energy...and it's not massage unless a massage therapist uses Reiki at the same time.

Why are you getting a treatment? Curiosity? Health concern?
I've been what they call 'attuned' but think anybody can use energy to heal and soothe. Energy comes in infinite flavors.
Prayer is energy. So is a hug you give somone when they're upset.

In my experience, some people who are sensitive to energy anyway, will 'feel' the energy treatment. It corrects imbalances
in the auric field (which is why physical contact is not required),
which then filters down to correct imbalances in the body within
a day or two.

Reiki will go where it is most needed. So for all you out there
who didn't 'feel' anything - the energy may have settled in the
realm of emotions or set a chain of events into motion with doing
some soul searching or becoming more aware of who you are.

I've found the Reiki energy to be more spiritual than physical, as
far as healing is concerned. Things you MAY feel during a
session: warm gentle heat but not from the practitioners hands,
altered state of conciousness more noticible when it's over and
you come out of your rest, a feeling of euphoria or light-headed
ness, a 'rushing' feeling like a strong current of weightless water
flowing through points of your body.

Some people also smell whiffs of flowers or frangrances are
unfamiliar but 'heavenly' (not to be found in the physical room),
and may hear sounds like chimes (also not coming from the
physical room).

If you don't want to have to pay - there are people who will do sessions for nothing. You just have to look around for them. Also
there are people who will do them 'distance' - but I think that crosses into the realm of specifically focused prayer.

A good practitioner will work sliding scale if you really think you
need it.

As far as finding out if you're sensitive to general energy anyway;
have you ever been in a public place that felt stifling and 'thick', or
met a person who's presence felt 'heavy' and uncomfortable?
Then you've felt negative energy.
Ever gotten out of the shower after a long day and felt "10 lbs
lighter"? Water is a natural energy cleanser and you already know what it feels like to be energetically cleansed.

P.S. If you want to learn to use energy healing for yourself and
other people, pets, anything living, ect look into a book called
Therapuetic Touch. ALOT of nurses in hospitals all over the country use it because it's so calming for patients without infringing on one's personal beliefs.

This was very strange. i don't think I believe in Reiki, but...

A doctor did a demonstration on me. She didn't touch me, and my eyes were closed. The top of my head became very warm, in a pleasant way, as if I was standing in sunlight. I didn't know where her hand was until later (I'd told her my back hurt!)

It was unsettling, and since i don't believe in Reiki, and never tried it again.

But that sure did feel good, whatever it was. relaxed, which made the backache go away.

Reiki is a great thing and it certainly doesnt hurt. Ive been practising it for a while and recieved it myself. Its very relaxing and calming. You may feel pleasant heat or tickling on your body, but no pain! I like it very much and it helps me.

I've had 2 treatments. I didn't have any specific physical complaints, but the sessions did leave me feeling very relaxed and more conscious of my body. I also experienced "seeing" some very vivid colors while my eyes were closed during the sessions. Very relaxing.

I've heard of it. I have not had it done on me yet. You probably know that its a deep tissue aggressive massage? Thats exactly the way I like it, black & blue and very sore afterwords.

Yes. It is very relaxing. Do not know if it will help you. Do not know what is wrong.
