why do tv shows get more and more stupid each year?

TV shows get more stupid each year because:
1. Really stupid shows (like the so-called "reality" shows) are incredibly cheap to produce--no writers, lousy shoulder-cam video, no actors, etc. Networks spend a little and gain a lot because. . .
2. Some of us are stupid enough to watch this crap, which means the shows get viewer ratings, which means the advertisers are getting their ads in front of people and are happy to continue paying for these non-shows.
If no one watched crap, the networks would have to produce something other than crap to stay in business.

because people get stupider each year and they make the tv shows stupid which teachess kids o be stupid which makes them grow to be stupid and they end up working for the tv etc.

Because the people are asking for the dumb shows!! Obviously they love them if they watch all those crappy reality shows!! TV will just keep getting dumber if they see the ratings go up for the dumb shows!!

I think it really depends on what shows you watch. There have always been stupid shows and there have always been good shows. I think the stupid shows are more accessible - on all the time, six times a day, on a bazillion stations - while the better shows are on less and you have to get certain channels to see them.

TV is called the idiot box. And I'm guessing it's finally living up to its name, and plus, there's a worldwide attitude that as every year passes, Americans are getting dumber.

Because the people that produce and market those shows are under the impression that most people are getting stupider over time. Mabye they are right. Paid any attention to your local news lately?

Because the more you watch TV, the dumber you get, so they have to keep making the shows dumber to keep up with the declining IQ of the shoppers who watch the commercials.
