Deep depression, a serious mental disease. It can be treated, but it is devastating. It can drive people to suicide. I hope this poor man gets the help he needs.

Because their pain is too much to bear and they feel like killing themselves is the only way to get rid of it. They don't stop and consider that the pain will go away and how much sorrow they will cause for their friends and family. They might think people would be better off if they were dead...
Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Well, you would have to feel the same way that the suicideal people do.
For a while, I thought it was the stupidiest, most pointless thing in the world, but now I can understand...
Its hard to understand for some people, others can relate.
People think that if they kill themselves, t hey're ridding themselves of the pain and they won't have to deal with whats going on, but they don't realize its just making things worse for everyone else.
Its a very sad subject, and I hate to see people that want to kill themselves.

It was just another story written on the second page
Underneath the Tiger's football score
It said he was only eighteen, a boy about my age
They found him face down on the bedroom floor
There'll be services on Friday
At the Lawrence Funeral Home
Then out on Mooresville highway,
They'll lay him 'neath a stone...
How do you get that lonely, how do you hurt that bad
To make you make the call, that havin' no life at all
Is better than the life that you had
How do you feel so empty, you want to let it all go
How do you get that lonely... and nobody knows
Did his girlfriend break up with him,
Did he buy or steal that gun?
Did he lose a fight with drugs or alcohol?
Did his Mom and Daddy forget to say I love you son?
Did no one see the writing on the wall?
I'm not blamin' anybody, we all do the best we can
I know hindsight's 20/20, but I still don't understand...
How do you get that lonely, how do you hurt that bad
To make you make the call, that havin' no life at all
Is better than the life that you had
How do you feel so empty, you want to let it all go
How do you get that lonely... and nobody know
It was just another story printed on the second page
Underneath the Tiger's football score...

first off this is to exiled114 - they are not weak !!!!
and second this is to melody - thank you for printing this song. i cry everytime i hear it. it is such a heartwrenching story and really makes one stop and listen. Bless you melody !!!
people go through so many changes in their lifetime a person's personality actualy goes through a change every 6 - 7 years believe it or not. many people cannot handle certain life crisis and they see no alternative to suicide. some do it because of guilt and hoplessness. but this does NOT make them a weak person. more understanding is what society should give.

People think of killing themselves when they are in unbearable pain. Depression, despair, listening to negative self-talk e.g." things won't get better,"" I'm a hopeless Mom,"" no-one cares,"" I'll never feel better." Sometimes people think suicide will mean they don't have to deal with whatever is causing the pain. Sometimes it can start with lack of sleep(Mum's with difficult babies), to anxiety, to adrenalin rushes, to hyperactivity to tormenting thoughts to even less sleep until a person is way out of balance. It is a cry for help sometimes...sometimes it is to manipulate people and get attention. There is always a way out. There is always help available. Tell someone you trust. Get councelling. Writing down all the negative stuff racing round your mind can help. It gets it out of your head where it hides and onto paper to be dealt with. Also write down the good times so you can remember them. Sometimes there are no good things to remember because of the chemical imbalance in your brain. Exercise helps as it produces feel good chemicals. Never give up or give in. Call for help until you get it.

they just think that they cannot handle the current situation, and they see no way out, it is a permanent solution for a temporary problem, such a sad thing. i work with ppl that are dying due to age and disease, they are dying naturally and that is hard to deal with, i cant imagine being a family member of someone who has succeded in suicide. they say 99 percent of what we worry about will never happen, so please keep this in mind ppl, not everything works out for the worst, only a small percentage. even that small percent is workable, there is always a solution to anything and everything.

Depression, anxiety, a sense of social isolation, a lack of ability to envision the future, a sense that only suicide is within their realm of control, to fulfill an obligation or spare the life/honor of another, etc.
Remember, sometimes suicide is altruistic, or it fulfills a cultural ideal, though I suspect that neither of these is the case with what you witnessed.
