To send a fax by DSL you can use an internet fax service. You get your own fax number and you can send/receive faxes using your email. It's really easy and very affordable.

hummm.. you'd have to have a fax number from a company like kinkos.com or careerbuilder.com to send and receive faxes. I have a fax-phone connected to the same line as my dsl, I have no problems using it when I am online. =o) Does your DSL have a noise reducer on it? Good Luck.
