My mom lives in Ohio, and I live in Michigan. I am visiting for the summer, and she has a Yorkshire Terrier. I live with my grandma. I have always had animals. Cats, Dogs, a ferret, hamster, bird, or fish. I had lots of cats at one time. My grandma won't allow pets. I love animals so much. Whenever I leave my mom's house, I feel like crying because I miss the dog. I feel so much happier when I'm around animals. Is that just me, or is it something that happens all the time? And how can I feel better about this?

OMG that is soooo sad I can't imagine living without animals.....you could volunteer at a shelter or clinic, and maybe you could find the reasons she wont allow pets and maybe make a deal with her, I think another part of the reason you feel so lonley is cause u miss ur mom too, but yeah mostly the dog. Hope it gets better for ya!

I'm sure it's normal for you to feel sad when you leave the animals if you were very used to them before. I have three suggestions.

Firstly, have you really sat down with your grandmother and asked about maybe getting a fish or possibly a hampster? Be sure to promise you'd keep it in your room and take care of it, including cleaning, and explain to her how lonely you feel.

My second suggestion involves friends of yours. Do you have friends with pets? Maybe you could have a cat sit on your lap while hanging out with a friend or something like that. This almost sounds like you're using your friends for their pets, but I think that if you spend more time with friends, you might not feel as lonely also.

Last, maybe you could get involved with an animal shelter or a vet's office, a farm, or a grooming place, maybe getting a job or volunteering. This way you could be around animals while also earning some money or helping your community.

I hope could help, and good luck!

Move out of Grandma's and get your own place, where you can have any pet you please.
