Good one! I had problems galore with this, do it ASAP. First, go to the driver's lisence place and take your marriage certificate with you. That should cover that. Then call the Social Security office and order a new card (they'll tell you the procedure.) Then you'll need a new passport (if you have one), which you can get with the other items you've gotten. Don't forget bank accounts, subscriptions, credit cards, etc. And if you've already booked plane tickets (ie honeymoon tickets!) in your maiden name, be sure to bring your marriage cert. with you to the airport...I almost didn't get on a plane because of this one!

the first thing i changed was my social security card. I went down to the office, showed my marriage license and filled out the form. Next you can go to your bank and change the name on your bank cards, when your last check is finished you can order new checks under your new name, get a change of name application from your job submit to human resources so your time card and your medical benefits card will reflect the change and also your paycheck. Make sure your tax accountant gets your name change as well, remember to sign documents using your new name, if you go to school, go to the bursars office and change your name. You may want to keep you marriage certificate with you for awhile until just about everything has been changed over. God bless you.

You have to go through the social security office and submit an application to change your name, you'll have to have a copy of your marriage license. You will also need to change it on your drivers license, where you will also need a copy of the marriage license.
