It's from their clothes... They put mothballs into there wardrobe to avoid moths eating their Tweed clothing (as moths are most attracted to Tweed material). and the smell simply gets into their clothes and fills the house with the smell.

The drawers their clothes sits in have mothballs in them to prevent insects from running through their drawers.

Gross ain't it....
My mother in law has the every flippin where... in closets etc.. It is to keep of course MOTHS out...from ruining clothing..mostly WOOL...but oh my goodness.... the whole friggen house smells HORRIBLE.. make me GAG
The few times I stay there, I DO NOT bring my overnight bags in cuz that stench stays with our canvas travelers for like FOREVER.....
So to answer your ??? old people smell like ICKY STINKY MOTH BALLS cuz they put them ALL OVER THEIR HOUSES.....
IF I DO THAT...PLEASE TAKE ME OUT BACK AND SHOOT ME

Where are you finding these old people? I sometimes work with old people and they smell kinda like nothing really. Maybe it's not the people it's their clothes.

ummmm most old people don't....
and if they do, it's because of the way they store their clothes.
if you kept one of your shirts or sweaters in a closet for a long time and busted it out to wear it without washing it, you would smell like moth balls too..
