Professional entertainment is overpaid by huge proportions. While other professions are under paid by huge proportions. I have been told "it's what the market calls for". No matter what its called, it's screwed up.

Priorities and morals are all screwed up in America. That's why the best school teacher in the world will never make what a top athlete makes.

Well id we are talking about sports, then yes we are getting screwed royally. However, in the arts, you would be suprised to learn that not many artists get paid that much unless htey are the cream of the crop. Yes, those that play the lead every year night after night on broadway are getting paid. But the chorus singers? Or those who have put their lives fully into the instrument that they play? They hare the ones getting screwed. The 50 or 60 dollar ticket you pay for to see those shows go mostly to the management, the theatre allowing the show to be shown in that venue, and for advertising. Therefore, most artists are making very little because they are never paid what they are worth except for the "stars" of the shows. These artists spend much more than the regular four years that most of the rest of us do to complete our education. Instead, they struggle andtiol to get that Doctorate or PhD to move up the food chain and still get no results unless htey dash all hopes of having a future in the spotlight and choose to teach instead at the college level. Even then, its not all that much money. Entertainment is a big waste of money, but after all, it is entertainment, and we are all guilty of spending that money to enjoy ourselves. I myself admit that i just paid about $100 dollars for tickets to see Michael Buble next week, and i am looking very forward to it. Yes, the tickets were overpriced, but i just could not help myslef. On the ohter hand, I would NEVER spend that much on a pair of NBA or NFL tickets - those guys make entirely too much money for having no education and nobreeding whatsoever. It really is a shame isn't it? I agree with you whole-heartedly dear but it is a burden that we must bear and that will never go away i'm afraid...

best of luck to you

I agree with you. But it's basically true. It boils down to corporations with lots of money. A popular TV show for example will get lots of money from it's sponsors, advertisers, etc. That show can then compensate the actors, directors, etc.

Same with professional sports. many people spend lots of money tickets, which then attracts corporations to advertise, etc.

If it was decided one day to ban a professional sport, let's take Baseball for example, the league would lose money because the sponsors would bail, and the atheletes would then get paid less, and so forth and so forth.

I sometimes wonder if it would be feasible to ban a professional sport for 10 years, and see what happens. Probably not.

Let`s just forget the hole thing about thinking and just follow societys established thinking patterns. And as you know every now and then we need to get away from the boredom and thats when we need...entertainment.

Since a lot of people are really bored they are willing to pay a lot for entertainment.

It's a big risk to get into that industry and only the top few survive. We want the best baseball, otherwise we would be happy watching high school games.
