Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN
JAPAN) for 6am. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he
shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG).
He put on a dress shirt(MADE IN SRI LANKA),designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA).
After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car
(MADE IN GERMANY) filled it with GAS from Saudi Arabia and continued
his search for a good paying "AMERICAN JOB".
At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his Computer (Made In Malaysia), Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals
(MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered
why he can't find a good paying job in.. AMERICA.....

You can get Birkenstocks for $20 on eBay... well, you used to be able to when it wasn't full of wholesale sellers. I get mine on eBay for $40 now. If you bought yours for $20, I'm guessing they are probably a knockoff or a lower quality Birkenstock sandal (i.e. Betula).
A Birkenstock is only a Birkenstock when it says Birkenstock on the buckles and on the inner side of the sandal. Also, it says Birkenstock on the foot. That's a true Birkenstock.
And no, Wal-Mart will not sell Birkenstock's for $8. They don't carry that brand at all.
Oh and I've still got my first pair of Birkenstocks (from 2000) and I still wear them every now and then. Granted, I've bought 3 new pairs since. But all my Birkenstock sandals have lasted _forever_. They have superior endurance compared to other sandals and I recommend them.

Real Birkenstocks cost far more than $8 or even $20. But you can find imitation brands for much lower prices. Possibly even the $8 you mentioned at Wal Mart.

If they are in Walmart they aren't real Birkenstocks. Walmart is known for finding out what is popular and then making knockoffs of them.

No. They show up no where on their site.
Probably just a shoe that is a Birkenstock wannabe.

they are not true Birkenstocks. However, I would look at EBAY! Also, you could go to Germany, the factory is in Bohn, and get them VERY cheap. Been there, done that!
