Gary Danko.

It is a small, intimate restaurant that typically only the locals know about. They treat you like a God the entire time you are there.

Here is what the SF Chronicle says:
Few restaurants in the city have the cachet of this high-end restaurant that won the James Beard Foundation's best new restaurant award when it opened in 1999. Gary Danko, the chef-owner, has a distinctive and much-copied style of mixing California sensibilities with French techniques. It's served up in sleek surroundings with an Armani sensibility: plantation shutters, dark wood accents and warm earth tones. The menu is fixed price, but diners can mix and match between categories.

Specialties:
Glazed oysters with leeks and salsify; seared foie gras; roast lobster with black trumpet mushrooms, edamame and tarragon; horseradish-crusted salmon with dilled cucumbers; souffles.

For group stuff, I like Max's Opera House Cafe on Van Ness. Fun place with diner-type fare and great desserts.

For a romantic dinner, I like the Spinnaker in Tiburon or the Grandviews at the Grand Hyatt.

For fast food, High-Tech Burrito. Healthy and very good tasting.

There are just too many good restaurants in SF.

I have two favorites...

1. Max's Opera House Cafe on Van Ness
You really can't beat Max's. Try their macaroons. Hella good.

2. Original Joe's in the Tenderloin (not sure which street, its not far from Market Street & Powell St. Station)
When you go, sit at the counter and get an original burger and talk w/ the fry cooks. Good times.

Dragonwell on Chestnut Street in the Marina: Food is really yummy - especially their potstickers and wok-tossed prawns... the ambiance is a lot more desirable than most chinese restaurants...plus the price is right!

2 favorites for steaks are Harris Restaurant and Alfred's. Both are no frills, not trendy...just really good steaks!

Luna Park...good food and bar. Its a great place for a romantic dinner, or a fun place to go with friends. There are also alot of bars to go to around the area (Valencia St.) when you are done with dinner. Its not cheap, but worth it. Also, if you don't want to spend alot of money, Tony's Cable Car on Geary is really good. Tony, the owner and his staff are really nice and they have great food!!

Tommy Toy's - mostly because of family memories. We have had such fun times there, when we'd all get together to eat. Food is ok but the memories are the best.
