I always like hearing popular jazz or soft rock in sit down restaurants - I like hearing songs I know the words to. In a bar, I would like to hear alternative or hard rock.

I'd do a small, romantic restaurant. Maybe Italian food but more likely just whatever fresh ingredients I can get during that season. I'd play light instrumental jazz and have the lights turned down low with candles on the table.

We had a tex mex rest. and played not the ususal mariachi but groups that were jazzy, afro cuban, or merengues. The people ate it up. At night on the weekends the music would get turned up a bit and more lively. We also had a jukebox. It helps when you want to hear somthing else.
