America is becoming competition to most country's with there Vipers and Corvette's for performace and Hyundai's for safety. But German cars and Japanese are always and will always be better.I'm all for GERMANY love there cars a total German car fan and a little of Japan fan. But now Mercury comes along still no competition with german cars maybe with volkswagon but not with Mercedes or BMW or Audi. I saw the new Mercury's and they are great Mercury is the fist manufacture to first make a hybrid look good and go good and they are the first manufacture to show a hot girl on a commercial LOL she's pretty good looking. Mercury really surprised me they used to suck. Now I'm willing to buy one. My question is what country makes Mercury and do you like the new Mercury's and is that girl hot or what?

Ford has been desperately trying to revive their Mercury line since the mid-1980's, when sales started dropping off.

I have to admit I'm impressed with their current production line-up and their advertising campaign. The advertising agency Ford is using currently is certainly a lot better than the one they hired to handle Jaguar's last and lately un-lamented "Sins" campaign.

Mercury is a good ol' American car make. Both Mercury and Lincoln are owned by Ford, making up the Ford Motor Company (along with a few foreign brands like Mazda, Jaguar, Land Rover, and others. I think they owned Lamborghini for a while, too). Mercury is OK, I guess. I like the Sable, which was their version of Ford's Taurus before FoMoCo discontinued them and replaced them with the Milan/Fusion, respectively. The replacements are even better than the firsts! They're nice and comfortable.

Oh, Hyundai's Korean, by the way ;)

Look at the first digit of the VIN - that'll tell you in what country the vehicle was produced.

My previous car, a Mercury Mystique (more aptly named the Mistake), was built in Canada. From an "American" car manufacturer...

Yes, the Mercury Mariner hybrid is out, the later-arriving cousin of the Ford Escape hybrid. I just wasn't aware that Ford was selling both outside of the US already. (The only commercial I've seen for either is the one for the FEH - with Kermit the Frog.)
