A geographer can work anywhere, because features of our planet are ever changing, and it is the job of the geographer to document for the rest of us.

a geogragher can work out in the field making up new maps. He can work in the classroom teaching students. He can travel the world.

You have to have someone make maps (cartography), and maps and atlases are used almost everywhere.

Someone needs to track human patterns and demographics so we can predict future needs/wants.

Someone needs to attend to changes (if any) in the lay of the land.
