Proactive and Neutrogena Advanced solutions work great. However, since it's summer, your skin, like mine, is probably breaking out anyway because it is more oily. Try using a dish soap, like Dawn Direct Foam, on your face at night before bed. Gently scrub in circular motions over your whole face with a wash cloth, put on an oil free moisturizer, and use a spot treatment if you have a bad breakout. The reason the dish sop works is because it is a natural degreaser. It will really dry out your face, so make sure you use lotion, or use it every other night.

Yes in a major way! It's concern in African American skin care because of the higher oil content. Keloids are acne scaring in black skin after acne heals. Just FYI, my brother and a few of my friends have acne problems.

Drink lot of water, Avoid oily and fatty foods. Wash your face with Neutrogena acne face wash and use their acne preventive products, it has a day lotion and a night time lotion. And also regularly steam your face and use a 'Clay pack' to get rid of the oil in the face to prevent breakouts and marks.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON PROACTIVE!!! IT SUCKS!!!
I used proactive for 3 months correctly and i still have blackheads and acne. I am African American too. It did not do anything for me. I'm 14 and get picked with because i have acne. You should try Sea breeze. It's very cheap but it works. I'm using it now and my skin is softer and more clear. Trust me when i say i had bad acne, I HAD BAD ACNE!!!

I use proactive on my acne. I kills the existing and prevents new blemishes. If I do get one, I pop it and put neosporin on it to keep it from scarring. Mederma may get rid of acne scars. It works great on other scars and stretch marks.

Stay out the sun use a good sunscreen when you do go out (we burn too) and use a concealer until it fads. If your doctor prescribe the cream to you that must be the best option for your problem. Good Look. I scar easily too.

Mederma ointment and Cocoa Butter to moisterize. It might take a little while and Mederma is a little expensive, but it worked wonders for me. You'll start seeing your complexion even out.
