When someone lands on a property and it is already owned, the person has to pay "rent". The owner of the property will have the deed. Look on the deed for the amount of rent. It also shows on the deed the amounts for the rent with each house and hotel. This is how you can make/break in Monopoly.

Hi there, I see you have already been told about the deed card. That is correct. When you land on a property, and if you chose to buy that property, the rent is written at the top of the card. For example, St. Charles place, the rent is $10. BUT.....if you own all three colors in the strip, but you have no houses on that property, and someone lands on your property, the rent is doubled. So, if you have St. Charles, States, and Virginia, then for the first 2 it would be $20 and for Virginia it would be $24. From there on out, the rent increases as you put houses on the property. You can only buy houses as a set for the corresponding matching color sets you have. If there are an uneven number of houses on your property then it can only have 1 more than the other properties. You buy the hotel after you have purchased a set of four houses on each of your properties. The fifth purchase is the hotel.

There are deeds that you buy.
Once you own the property to that deed there is rent.
Rent is money received for landing on the property you own on the board. Look at the deed cards for info.
For example TENNESEE AVE
With no houses or hotels the rent is $14
With 1 house $70
2houses 200
3 houses 550
4 houses 750

With Hotel $950

Houses and hotels for Tennesee avenue are 100 dollars
You must purchase 4 houses before buying a hotel
And you can only own 1 hotel. Rules are rules

Hope this helps. And remember look at the deed cards
