When the ball is booted from one end to the other, and a head shot is used, does anyone know if this ever resulted in permanent injury to a player??

Why not look into the history of players and GK's when this happens? Again, look at the GK from Italy (Buffon) he rammed his head into the goal post and continued playing!!!!!!!!!!! Now, who dare to call the Italians 'babies'? hee hee.... I guess not.

These players are trained HEAVILY!!! They are better trained athletes than most sports, including American football, hockey, basketball and even rugby!!!!!!!1 They are an amazing team that works together and if they have to take a bing to the head, well, that is what they have been trained to do.. and they hit in the right spot to make the point... therefore the term 'using your head' comes from.

No, I don't know. I also shudder to think of the goal keeper of Italy when he banged in the goal post when saving a goal when playing against Ukraine. I don't know how they cope up with the injuries.
