I have this thing that drives my husband batty...I separate paper napkins or tear them in half...he can't stand when I do that. I don't turn lights on until a room is so dark you can't see anything. I use candles a lot too instead of electric lights. I wash plastic picnic plates and silverware. Stock up my pantry with things I use all the time when I see them on sale. I only do large loads of laundry. Walk instead of taking the bus. Never buy ready to eat meals, always cook from scratch. Freeze leftovers. Stale bread becomes a breakfast casserole or croutons. Leftover vegetables become soup...Oh, the list goes on and on....

I watch my aircondtioning and heating settings so I can save on my monthly utility bills, and I bought an economy car and am careful on where I go in the car so I don't drive around in useless trips. And I don't use the airconditioning in my car most of the time so I can increase gas mileage, thereby saving money. And I keep my car tuned up and have clean air and fuel filters in it to keep it running better to increase gas mileage and minimize the likelihood for sudden repair work. And keep the air pressure in my tires at the right setting to save on the wear and tear of the tires and again to save gas mileage and therefore money. And my wife is EXCELLENT in grocery shopping, watching all the grocery adds and coupons to cut costs everywhere, and we save a lot of money that way. She does the same when we consider clothes purchases we make, even though my pickiness demands a certain minimum quality which is a bit higher than her requirements. She's really great in all areas of shopping wisely, and then when we need or want something that we can't cut costs on, we can feel better spending the extra money. And how we set money aside in a "savings" each month really pays off as we see the capital growing and allowing us to handle major purchases as they come along. And she's the best in setting and keeping those goals. I'm sure there are other ways we do save money, but it'd take too long to remember now. God Bless you.

I bake my own bread because buying it costs 79 cents for the cheap stuff, but I can bake it for only 20 cents a loaf.

I never buy processed food if at all possible, I make my own. This includes shredding my own cheese, making my own french fries, tater tots etc.

After my husband goes to work, I turn the a/c up from 74 to 78 and turn the fans on high. I'll let the kids run around in their underwear if it gets hot, or we'll retire to the coolest room for the afternoon.

We don't use paper towels, rather, we use rags to clean up our kids, and use cloth napkins instead of paper towels. I buy a four pack of paper towels once a month.

Gosh, the list goes on lol, but that's probably because I consider saving money part of my job as a stay at home mom.

I've got a budget which I stick to. I just prioritise... bills and stuff have to go first, then basic food and after that I need to decide whether I want more luxury food stuffs or I'm going to buy clothes this month or some music... or if its a really bad month I'll just stop buying loo roll (joke)!

I don't do this to save money, I do this because we haven't got the money to do otherwise

I eat one meal, every other day so my son can have his 3 meals a day. If I didn't do this we would not have the money to eat all week or for my son to have the milk he requires.
