Remember these prices are even persuading Bush to look into alternative fuels. I hear that New York state will have ethanol pumps added to travel plazas. What are your views?

Short term very good for USA because it can break apart economies of china and India which will indirectly help USA and also help USA to stand on its feet by alternative fuels and local exploration. Long term NO because high oil prices will put too much money into the hands of producers like Russia Iran And Venezuela.Because days of almost free oil are gone it will be a bad proposition to put the American Dollars into those hands.

I see where youre going with this. The higher the prices, the fewer people will buy the product. They will find alternatives. Well we honestly should be doing that right now anyway.

Everyone talks about how we cant fill our cars anymore for less than $40.00. We should not have been burning fossil fuels in privately owned vehicles for at least the last 30 years. Why? Gas and oil are petroleum products. PLASTICS are petroleum products. When we run out of oil, we run out of ways to make all kinds of plastics, from artificial hearts to PC keyboards. We can use solar power and hydrogen to run our cars, but I dont care how long you focus the sun, youre not gonna be able to feed a baby from a plastic bottle.
Gas prices are high. People are so outraged by the price hikes theyre driving even more than they used to. Big Oil was quoted in Congress saying, "We can charge $3.00 a gallon because people will pay it."

Develop a cheap, clean fuel for autos and let the Middle East suicide bomb themselves and each other into oblivion.

High gas prices are bad because we have to pay more. Alternative fuels are good ideas.

ethanol is already in gas. its 10 % of it. bush wants to add another 10% to create more fuel that way. gas is high so the giants can make more billions of profit. the ceo's make hundreds of millions a year. etnanol will not make any dent in fuel.

Prices for anything at any level are neither good nor bad; they just are. They are a function of various market forces of supply and demand working on one of the most demanded products in the entire world. They're going to change from time to time.

Gas prices are controlled by YOUR government ; i.e. fat cat rich politicians (Bush , Cheney) that are large investors in oil companies. When you are worth a few million dollars , you don't worry about gas prices much, consequently they don't worry about us much either.People in this country are also to blame...un-neccessary driving , wasting fuel and just generally not giving a crap.To answer your question...high prices are good....maybe it will get people to get their heads out of their asses and vote the sorry *** politicians out that are screwing us over and getting rich while they do it.
