Hi Meredith...Use an ice pack(bag of frozen peas or corn works well) to the shoulder for the first 24 hrs while awake.....and take 600mg of ibuprofen(3 -200mg each over the counter pills)(if your not allergic to it...and make sure you have food in your stomach)..every 6 hours. After 24 hours you can use heat (as in a heating pad..)....on wednesday after the holiday if your not better make an appointment to see an Orthopedist..(bone specialist)...you may have a rotater cuff injury....which if bad enough would require surgery
Good Luck!
PS if you do not have insurance it should be covered by your school's insurance

ice it..on for 20 minutes, then off for 20 minutes--repeat for a couple of hours. Keep it rested--no stunting and try not to move it around alot. Get a sling if you need to. In a week or so start trying to do small range of motion exercises. You may have subluxed it (where you dislocate it and it goes back in on its own)...or you may have strained a muscle. I cant tell you from just the little info you gave us. Once it starts feeling better-then do stretches and small exercises to get it going again. you may need to see a doctor if it doesnt get better in a week or so.

Put a lot of ice on it. I did the same thing to my shoulder. It will heal in a couple of days if it still hurts after like four days you might want to have a doctor look at it.

I would guess that it's probably a sprain, but you should still see your doctor even though you can move it and you know it's not broken you may even have a hairline fracture.

Get it checked out, and put ice on it in the meantime.
