My fuel pump will not start after the ignition switch is turned on. I know the pump is good, because I have taken it from the tank and tested the fuel pump, it is working fine. What can be the problem why it is not staring connected to the power souce in the tank ?

Typically the relay and fuse are located in the fuse box on the left side of the car next to the fire wall. Once you find it please check the fuse first. If it is blown replace it and see if it blows again if it does you have a short in the system. Typically the short is in the pump or in the connection at the tank. If the fuse is not blown you need to check the relay. Check in the fuse box to see if there is a relay that is the same as the one for the fuel pump. (sometime the car company will use the same one for the AC) if they are the same simply swap them and see if it takes care of the problem. If you still have the problem you need to check for voltage at the fuel pump connection just before it goes into the tank. If you have voltage when you turn on the key you have a bad pump and need to replace it. Hope this helps

I suggest you try out everyone's suggestion and in addition to all that, try checking the ignition system. I also had a mazda once and it was the ignition system that kept failing (but mine was an older model.) Have a step by step check of the system from the time you start the engine, step on the gas etc etc etc.Usually its just a contact problem.
