Both, but I am learning. I guess I am a late bloomer, I think my daughter is older than I, in some ways. I think that I have happened to life, and the results were not always good. I am going to sit back and let life happen to me, for a change. I made that decision a few weeks ago, wish me luck.

GooD QUEST-ion! I liken this to the title of a popular "Art History" text used in the 1970's - (I'm 'dating' (placing a relative age) upon my sad self.) ... "Man Creates Art Creates Man." I guess there is always a sense of questioning how our elected environment(s)' effects upon our being and/ or "state of becoming." We do ourselves well to live through these sorts of questions rather than pretend they don't exist... the existential questions... the truth values that continually impact our lives... And, in doing so, we actually manage to form meaningful sensibilities on aesthetics, pragmatics, semantics, & even jurisprudence - the "deontologial" as well as the ontological. Our philosophical wrappers, rappers, & wrap-ups are based on these constituent "parts of the puzzle."
We enact our purveyances though our many conveyances - cultural & otherwise... iff* we keep open minds and hearts.

*iff = if and only if

some of both. ying and yang. you go after life and try to control it as much as you can, but sometimes you cannot help what happens to you.

You don't happen to life, nor life happens to you.

You are life itself.

It depends. Sometimes we have control over what's going on and sometimes we don't. We just go with hte flow.

Both simultaneously. You have an effect on others and they have an effect on you.
