You need to get an excellent make up brush made specifically for applying eye liner ( try using Bobbi Brown's gel/cake liner in a lil pot). A really good brush will run you about $20 but will last you a lifetime. Take a deep breath and breathe OUT when you draw your line on your upper lid. It might take you a few good breaths to get a good straight line. Keep practicing! OR you could just do away with actual eye liner all together, get a good eye liner brush like i explained above but instead of liner, get a good dark brown or black highly pigmented eye shadow and apply it like eyeliner or around your entire eye for a smoky look. It's a softer look so you don't have to be as precise.

Always rest your wrist on your cheekbone, use as little pressure as possible, don't blink, and hold the tip of the pencil (dry or liquid) at an angle that makes it come from above your lashes and down onto the eyelid. Go slowly, starting from the middle of the pupil outward to the outer corner. Don't line the whole eye unless you've tried many ways and that really looks good on our eyes. I use the same hand for both sides- my dominant hand- and yes it's a bit harder on the other eye, but, the slower I go and the more relaxed I am, the easier it gets with a bit of practice. :)

Hello Jackie T.
I think that is always hard to put it on this way but this is the best
way for the top eye lid. With your eyes open act like you are winking at your self in the mirror and hold that eye lid down that is closed and then apply the eyeliner while the eye is closed and then do the same thing to the other one. I hope this helps.

instead of pencils and liquid, try the twist up kind. I use brown liner to look more natural. put it as close to your lashes as possible and don't make too thick of a line. put the tiniest bit of eye shadow in the same color over it with a brush also Cosmo girl magazine has many tips for makeup techniques

Try getting a dark eyeshadow and applying it with a stiff slanted brush. You ought to be able to find one at any cosmetics counter. It will be called a liner/eye contour brush. the brush is really thin so it's easy to draw a line JUST at the base of your lashes,or shape it however you like. Plus eyeshadow blends away easily if you mess up.

Instead of pencil eye liner try a small flat brush and use black liner in a compressed powder or a small jar of brush on liner. If you use a compressed powder liner try wetting you brush first. It works really good for a smokey look.

Try liquid eye liner. But you have to apply it with a slanted brush. It works better than pencil eye liner. MAC has 3 or 4 different kinds of slanted brush & they also has tons of color selections of liquid eye liner- they called it FluidLine.

I use an eyeliner brush (thin, flat brush with an angled edge), wet it and dip it in eye shadow...then I line the upper lid with it, right at the lash line. It's easier than using an eye pencil (which can be too thick and may break if you press too hard) or a liquid eyeliner (which just makes a mess). Good luck! :)

I use a pencil by Mary Kay that I twist up as needed. I draw a line right at my eyelashes and then with the spongy end of a Cover Girl eyeliner, I blend it. I often get compliments on my make up, so I think it works pretty well. Hope this helps.

get a roll up eye liner, that pre sharpens, i find they are easier to put on a thin line at the top of your eyes.
