I'm talking about the present. I would like serious answers and why. I just want to remind everyone that over in the middle east, when there is an American prisoner, they are usually tortured than killed. Sometimes when they are killed they are put on the internet with their head coming of their neck. I know what the US soldiers did to some of their prisoners and it was stupid, but lets be real people, who are the real ruthless people?

I know Ruby won't read this but Bush saying that this is a different kind of war is true. How can you think that it is not that different? It's not like any other war, becuase anyone could attack you. Its terrorism, get used to the way it works because it will be around forever.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that Americans do torture people from time to time. I think it's mostly in retaliation for the atrocities committed by the enemy, and although I think it's human nature and understandable for our people to do things like that, I also think it's important for our soldiers to try to hold themselves to a higher standard than the Muslim animals who perpetrate such acts against us. It's hard not to exact revenge against pigs like them, but it's important that our servicemen and women try to adhere to a higher, more honorable standard than the enemy. It's what distinguishes us from the so-called "people" we are fighting against.

Who seriously doesn't believe that Americans have been engaged it torture tactics! What is Guantanamo for otherwise?
If you can't imagine torture going on behind the closed doors of the Military especially in this age of outsourcing contract to POW Camps then how can you explain cases like Abner Louima and other prison and police beat-downs that take place across the country!
It has been a long time sense wars were waged on the fields of honour with gentleman's rules and protocols..... And that said America is hardly the worst detractor, just a highly visible one!

The U.S. is the most compassionate country in the world, we hold ourselves at a much higher standard then the ones we are fighting. The simple fact the we are concerned over the torturing , in the mist of the beheading ... really shows that we are possibly the most civilized country on the face of the Earth.

You can NOT expect better from a culture if you yourself can even play the part. I know there are things the government does that i do not want to know about. I hate the thought of torture but if ther were a person with pertinent information that could save many lives then i would be pissed if they didn't do ANYTHING necessary including the "rubber hose"

No, I don't. I think the prisoners we have were taught to yell and scream such claims as part of their training to discredit the captors. What they consider torture is nothing more than coercive tactics, such as sleep deprivation during questioning sessions. This and other methods are useful in gaining information without resulting to real torture methods as used by some third-world governments.

Who cares if they do torture them. That's what they do to our men so it only serves them right!!! Damn terrorists. I'm so sick of everyone blaming the American's for everything. Who the ***** do these people come to when they need help???? The fifty red, white and blue states!!!
The Geneva Convention is only there for show... it serves no other purpose because nobody honors it... so I say...
I hope the US soldiers do torture prisoners and I hope they cut off their heads and send them to their families.

Yes, the US employs some forms of "torture" in their interrogation techniques, in rare occasions. Every country does. There are people that say we are every bit as bad (or worse) that these terrorists for that reason. These people are idiots and know nothing about how the world works beyond their simple, idealistic little communities.

If it's happening, we're probably outsourcing. I hope we are. Nothing like the beheadings our people have endured, but something "uncomfortable" enough to make them eat pork and tell us what we need to know! It'll just be a matter of time before our pals at the NY Times blow anything we've got going for us out of the water.

Bush and Co. get all shifty when someone asks them about U.S. interrogation policies... I wonder why that is?
Granted, we aren't as bad as they are... but, if you lie, it doesn't make it right, just because someone else lies more...
it seems like many people anymore are saying "it's ok if we act like the terrorists, because they did it first"... that's a sad excuse for doing something that you know you shouldn't do...
the "morals" of the conservatives seem to disappear so quickly when they are threatened a little... that it when it is most imporant to be moral...
