I think so.
Here's what you need to tell her. Clothing sends a message to others about you. It's like wearing a sign. If you dress where you reveal too much, it's like telling others that you are easy and want to only be looked at for your body.
You can wear a bathing suit that's cute and be able to feel comfortable around families and your friends. This way you are sending a message, "I like to look nice, but come and get to know me"

I live in a beach town, and its not legal in alot of counties in my state for males or females to wear thongs if they expose more than a certain percentage of private parts. You might buy some time while checking into this. If she's like most teens tho, she's gonna sneak it in there if you go wacko about it. Compromise on maybe something just as sexy without all the cheek action going on. Good luck!!

No! But she (and you) have to be ready for the attention it's going to bring.
Understand that I think nude sunbathing (and nude beaches) are ideal at any age... so any additional clothing is just gilding the lily. How much or how little she covers herself at the beach is secondary to how she acts. If she's got good self-esteem and self-respect, it shouldn't matter, because she's not going to behave in a tawdry manner. If, on the other hand, she just wants to put it out there, then she's going to do that no matter what she wears anyway.

Honestly you should trust her to make the right choices while shes at the beach and there are adults on the beach so if something happened to her she would be okay thats why there are life gaurds. You should losen up on her, she is16 she'll be okay.

Are the other girls her age wearing them? Depends on what beach she is going to. In some places it is a common occurrence to wear them, and no-one else thinks anything of it. Since you are her father, the decision may lie entirely up to you.

yes she will not be 16 for ever ,protect her for as long as you possibly can , we all know ,when we are 16 ,we want to be grown up , but in truth its a long time from 16 - 65 , so there is no rush to grow up ,it will happen anyway
