when we first discovered they could do this,it was amazing.before this they asumed that a chimps brain was too small to do this.and they were wrong.and humans and apes are the only animals that can learn to use tools.

Scientists are human and like most humans they believe that they are the only intelligent creatures on the planet. After all they truly believe "God" made them in "his" own image. So it is no wonder that they are amazed when a "smaller less intelligent creature" shows the same basic signs of intellect. The scientists (and most humans) can not fathom that quite possible all creatures (some humans included) are connected to the same source of intellect. After all in whose image then would monkeys have been made? If man has a "God" like image how can animals be like humans (and thus like "God")? It fascinates them because they really do not understand how much alike people and animals truly are. Maybe it's because they (the humans) are trying to find the source of that intelligences and thereby a better understanding of themselves.

lots of animals use tools ,nothing amazing about that
a gorilla can pick up a branch and hit someone over the head with it
had a dog that would go in the house and come out with a pillow ,then lay on the lawn with his head on the pillow
people arent the only animals with imagination and brains

Scientists are amazed because science itself is still annoyingly anthropocentric in many ways. I like to think that when we look at a monkey and say to ourselves, "Look at that clever monkey, with his stick-tool and his ants," the monkey is looking at us and saying, "Look at that poor human who never thought to poke a stick in an anthill to get a quick meal. Idiot."
Not that I think the monkey's really thinking that, but it amuses me all the same.

They think it is an example of evolution in action, or proof that we are 'no different from' animals after all.
BTW, if you see any more of those scientists being scratched by a stick, tell MR ED to leave them alone.

They are so amazed by what monkeys can do because they believe man evolved from monkeys. That we're related, we're just more equipped with things and can use tools better than they can.

because the scientists who think about that petiful stuff can't use a tool to build a house, so they are jealous. I am not really insulting them, but aren't there some more important things to do here, like find life on other planets and how to fix what we screwed up.
PS: why do people always use asterisks to block out cuss words like **** and crap

Actually, it's chimps and bonobos that use sticks, not monkeys. At least get your derogatroy comments straight.
