I have a 2001 pontiac grand prix w/ 80,000 miles. It's otherwise in good condition and just passed inspection.

It could be cheap as $30, and could be a whole lot more. Cheap if it just needs to serviced up with refrigerant. But if you need a new compressor or more then it gets over $100 and lots more real quick. Find auto repair you can trust. Ask friends in your area. Parts outlets (like Pep Boys) also sell service kits...you can fill it yourself...

While most of the answers suggest that you are low on freon or the new coolant that replaced freon, it could be simply a blown fuse that won't let your compressor clutch engage. Do you hear a different noise, or click from the compressor area when you turn on the A/C? If not, it could very well be a fuse.

It needs Freon...Usually runs about 25

usually its 65per hour for labor to get it looked at. I'd say your out of freeon in your A/C. You can have it refilled at your mechanics shop.
