I have been dating a guy for 2 1/2 years and things are great but he says he never wants to get married? What gives? How can I get him to change his mind?

My cousin and his girlfriend was in the same situation. In his case, he wanted to be financially stable enough to support himself and a wife. Some guys just don't want to let you down. Then again, maybe things are comfortable enough to him where he doesn't feel the need. I know that a lot of people are afraid to make that walk down the isle for fear of things changing drastically afterward and would rather things stay they way they are. Is it really that important at this time to get married or can it wait a little longer? I would be talking to him to find out what is going on in his mind and in his heart...it is truly the only way you are going to be able to understand this!

Love of course...true love as one said. If he's doesn't love you and is not in love w/you than maybe that may be the reason. He could also be afraid of commitment as well. I have been seeing my "high school sweatheart" for almost 7 yrs and I use to wonder the same thing...almost. I knew he loved me, and we had talked about marriage several times, but I was tired of waiting, and wanted to know when it would happen. You don't want to pressure him because you want it to be a natural feeling,something that he truly wants to do, and not something he feels pressured or coerced to do. My guy came out to me in May & told me that he was going to ask me to marry him in the next 6 months, and prior to this I had not once asked him anything about it. In all actuality you probably can't change his mind. It may not be you,it might be something he just doesn't want to do,but talk to him and see what more he has to say about it to be sure. If marriage is something that you definitely want and he doesn't maybe you should stop seeing him?

I would take him for what he says. If a man says that he doesn't want to get married, he probably doesn't. I have grown up with lots of brothers and male cousins, and the ones that said statements like yours either never got married, divorced, or still resenting their partners. I do know that "you can't trap running water" Once you bottle up the water it becomes stale, and everything you loved about this guy won't be there anymore.

if he doesn't want to get married find out why and really think about what you want!
I was in a relationship for four years and the guy never wanted to get married and when something better came by (after we had a baby) he took off with that.

Maybe he feels you so sure that he knows your going to be there with him when he wants. Or it depends on how old you guys r because he just might feel to young.

true love...maybe he has a fear of committment...try to figuire out whats going on. Dont pressure him though, he may end up resentful.
