My husband walked out on me one month ago yesterday (we don't have any children). I have a job now, but it's a family business, so basically I'm working for my parents. Since he's been gone I have been SO INCREDIABLY lonely! I live in a really small town (less than 2000 people). I don't know any single people my age (37). Where do I go to meet people? And before you say a club, the closest one is about 2 hours away. How do I keep from being SO lonely? It's like, I come home from work, walk in the house and go...ok....what now? Any advice would be appreciated.

Churches, support groups, community groups, friends, therapy groups or individual therapy may be helpful to you. The important thing is to avoid isolating yourself. You are going through a tough time and you may need some help sorting your emotions and thoughts out. Finding good people to surround yourself with is often a move that will provide long term help while you consider your next move.

Oh boy... that's terrible. You're so far away from everything. How about going on singles vacations or short weekend trips.
Honestly, I'd start looking for a job near a city where there's more to do like going to museums, sports clubs, theatre, opera, club, etc.
In a town of 2K, there aren't many people to meet. That's it. Nothing you can do about it and if you start spending your time reading books (which is an excellent thing - don't get me wrong), you're going to turn into an old maid with very little adventure in your life.
Another idea might be to find people online that you can meet as friends or acquaintances, not dates. i.e. people who meet occasionally that are interested in the same things you are or who have the same hobbies. I've met some scubadivers that I talked to online. All very cool people.

Find something that you really enjoy and do it. You have to concentrate on yourself because you are the most important person. As hard as it may seem you have to give it some time!!! It's only been a month. Surround yourself with the people who love you the most. Good luck sweetie.

Take up a hobby that you wouldn't normally do. I always say bowling because you get to meet different people and get a little exercise too, which is good for someone sitting around being bored! Once you surround yourself with various people, you tend to start making friends....good luck~

Move or travel. There are so many different people out their from all walks of life. Things to learn, experienced to be had. Put your everyday life on "hold", so to speak, and.... experience LIFE! Break the monotony, you only live once. See and do all you can, it will put your existence into perspective.

Good luck and happy traveling!
