They don't seem to like the smell of lavendar. And they can be detered by chemicals like "off" and others. Take a shower using lavendar soap. Use lavendar spray and wash clothes in lavendar rinse. Plant lavendar plants in the yard. I do it all because mosquitos think that I am a gormet meal!!!

To prevent mosquito bites: Wear a repellent that includes DEET

To kill the mosquitoes in your house: The electricified fly swatter/tennis racket device mentioned earlier works wonders and is sinfully entertaining as well.

To prevent mosquitoes from entering your house in the first place: Make sure all windows and doors are equipped with screens in good repair, and there are no open holes around the screens where the insects can enter. Keep doors and windows closed unless they have a screen.

Don't remove spider web as they are very effective at eating mosquitoes. If you have a real problem, try putting up nets on your windows. Do not use any sort of spray, as these are destroying the environment

Contrary to previous answers, avoid using sprays inside, it can be damaging to your respiratory tract. Use a lotion repellent for the time being. To get rid of them I suggest using the hose on your vaccuum cleaner to suck them out of the air and off surfaces, it's easier than killing them by hand. (I solved a similar problem with fruit flies this way).
