Can't exactly remember when was the match... was it last Monday?
Well but i wonder why he never played, coz he had no injury...
Do you think it would have been a difference?

the most probable reason is that he's only made 4 shots in the 3 matches in the group stages and scored 1 goal. he was replaced by kuyt in the portugal match, who made a total of 9 or 10, most of them on target (but blocked out of course), so van basten probably thought he had a better chance of scoring. and i hate to say this but i think he made a bad decision with not playing van nistelrooy.

he didnt play because he had been under performing in the last few games. as to wether or not it wouldve made a difference, who knowes? his substitute performed brilliantly, and the dutch still had an upper hand in the game, their chances just didnt turn into goals, and the officiating was horrible

van basten said before the match that he would play kuyt because he felt nistelrooy wasn't at his best...well they're out anyhow....
