I love white men, I think they are more loving to me than black men are.

There are some misguided people who are afraid of anyone/anything different. What a person looks like on the outside is irrelevant - it's what's in a person's heart that counts.

It's too bad people have retained old prejudices rather than outgrowing them.

There are people who have a very violent opposition to interracial relationships. I was having lunch at a restaurant with a friend of mine -- he's a black guy and I'm a white woman -- and I saw a white guy giving us a look of pure hatred. Good heavens. Having lunch with a friend can draw that kind of hostility? Please.

Personally, I think eventually we'll all be of mixed race and that's fine. We'll probably even out at a nice cafe au lait skintone.

Some people think everything EXCEPT what they do is wrong! To them I say, Stow it..go play in your own sandbox with your own toys. I think it is fine for anyone to love whom ever they choose...it would be nice if they were loved back by the same person, but that doesn't always happen. Salt and Pepper are fine with me...some of the sexiest guys I have known have been black, and then some of the sexiest guys I have known have been White. I haven't met any green men that I thought were particularly sexy....yet.

I can't answer why they do stupid things like that. I can only say it is not everyone who feels that way.

My mother has a problem with different ethnics, but I realize she grew up in the 40's in a small farm town dominated by the KKK and only heard about the negitive side of the local politics when it came to certain "types" of people. She's an old woman that grew up calling African Americans colored cause at that time that is what was prefered for all minorities....and she'll tell ya' that. She has no plans to change her mind about any of it. I see it as short sighted, stupid and arrogant.

There are plenty of good people in this world making a successful life for themselves who are all manner of rainbow infused descriptions. There is a reason why members of the same species can reproduce...they have the same make up.

I'd like to think I speak for the whole human race as I say I am deeply moved and terribly sorry for the tremendous inconvenience your situation has endured. Negligent humans in every direction of the globe have faced and will continue to face numberous catastrophies world wide and yet many of our own human being neighbors continue to dwell on the differences....even in the same loss.

Did you know that African Americans have a specific bioquality that helps prevent against malaria? It is a double edged sword, but even in the medical world there is value of all people especially for their differences.

I commend you. I am sure you have seen the worst in people and I can only hope it has not dampened your trust in people as a whole.

Because some people are not up with the times and they simply think everyone should be with their own kind, whitew/white, chinesew/chinese,blackw/black, you get the picture. I, on the other hand, simply don't give a darn, my dear. My motto is, if you're happyw/ the person, whatever race, then be happy. We may look different on the outside but we're exactly the same on the inside. And that's all I have to say about that.

The only problem I see with it is the conflict it causes for the off spring of a man/woman union. I saw a show on the Discovery Health Channel once and they interviewed Children of bi-racial parents. I really felt sorry for them, they where having such a hard time with dating, racism and their own ethnic backgrounds. One little girl was so sad, she just didn't understand why she wasn't really excepted in the black community, and not really excepted in the white community.

Though if you're speaking in a homosexual relationship...then go for it, you won't be effecting the life of a child.

I agree with Angie S. In order to answer your question, you first have to find out why some people are racist. My guess is they've lived a life of very limited exposure to people unlike themselves, or they've just happened to have unfortunate experiences that make them feel the way they do. Whether the person who thinks its wrong for people of different races to have a relationships realizes he is or not, he (or she) IS a racist to some extent of the word.

A person would have to be a racist. Even to think there is a difference between people because they don't look identicle. They may deny it and say they just don't think it's right, but underneath there has to be a prejuduce.

P.S My husband is black, and I am white, and we have a beautiful baby girl.

Old habits die hard. Remember that 50 years ago interacial marriages were illegal in some US states. 50 years...thats really not that long ago, people are still alive who were opposed to the legalization of their marriage, and they had kids who they taught the same thing too. Prejudice is something that will never die out. Someone will always want to judge another person.
