43 is the smallest prime number that is composed of consecutive integers in reverse order. I believe that the only other prime that is composed of consecutive integers in reverse order is 76543 (interestingly enough, it ends in 43!).

That is an easy one. Back when Mcdonald's first introduced chiecken mcnuggets, they sold them in boxes of 6,9 or 20. Suppose you wanted to buy exactly 21 mcnuggets. You would buy 2 boxes of 6 and a box of 9. However, there would be no way to buy exactly 7 mcnuggets. 42 can be bought, 43 cannot. Now here is what is interesting: 43 is the largest number of mcnuggets that CANNOT be bought. That's right...44,45,46, etc. can all be bought! Try it, then see if you can prove it.

Also: In 1943, pennies were made out of steel, not copper, because copper was needed for the war (to make shells for the rifles)

As one person noted, 42 is the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything, in Douglas Adam's books. However, contrary to 43 being insignificant - I believe that if 42 is the answer, the 43 must be the start of a whole new question (or universe.)

It comes after 42, which any reader of Douglas Adams' The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy knows is the answer to the question of Life, The Universe and Everything. So when you think of 43 it really is insignificant in comparison to 42.

Personally I like all prime numbers. 43 is good. I also enjoy 47, 67, and 31. A prime number composed of entirely odd digits is my favorite kind of number.

There's nothing special about it. It's a prime number, of course. 43 is just a normal prime number. I think it's a happy number; a number such that if you take the sum of the squares of the digits again and again, you eventually get 1.
