War on terrorism? No. It's hard to win a battle against an idea. Look at the Cold War. It was like the war on Communism. While capitalism won, the U.S. didn't win exactly. The USSR just pretty much gave up.
War on terrorists? Possibly. It's much easier to win by killing people then trying to wipe some idea away from minds. Then again, that's what propaganda is for....

The premise is flawed. We did not experience this problem after World War II, even though we bombed a number of German and Japanese cities virtually out of existence.
Hatred cannot be entirely quelled, not until the Second Coming, at any rate, but the war on terror can be won.
First, we must all be committed to it. This sort of behavior was routine in World War II. We knew the nature of our enemies (from their own propaganda), and we can do the same today.
Second, we must re-establish respect for the rule of law. The current administration does not have such respect. Hear the whining of conservatives when courts rule against them: a protest against "activist judges" is actually a demand that judges biased in favor of conservative causes (in short, activist conservative judges) be appointed.
Third, we must re-establish our hard-earned reputation for fairness and decency. In the first Gulf War, thousands of Iraqi soldiers surrendered to us on that basis alone. When W. threw away honorable treatment of prisoners (no matter how vile they might be), he rendered meaningless the deaths of many American soldiers in several wars.
Finally, we must take every practical step within the law to eradicate the conservative menace, both at home and abroad. The current crop of terrorists consists of conservative extremists, and a different brand of conservative extremism holds sway in the United States. Both are trying to impose their versions of regressive, repressive government on the world. Conservatives have ALWAYS been America's enemies, and should be held in the same regard as child molesters and serial killers.

Leaving all of my biases aside, no, I do not think America, or any other nation could win a war on terrorism. In fact, by attacking another country to 'prevent' terrorism, you are, in effect, being a terrorist yourself, adding to the problem. On another point, terrorism can never be eliminated as long as there are bad people in the world. Although it may not be overtly violent, it is always lurking in the shadows, waiting for an opportunity to strike.
Though this sounds like I am contradicting myself, there is one way: if they destroyed the entire world. I hope they don't,

Think the americans who major manufacturer of war equipments to generate revenue, so they must show their best products.
To win a war never in their policy, one who sit back and watch will look at the clear view, even now iran and north korea are not afraid of them.
For next 4 year military budget is $17billion is enough to feed alot of poor, so where they going to get this funds think again-start a war and many will invest on them.
Terrorist are like red ants if you dont touch then they wont bite you, unless illegal power mis-use, so if so why take all the trouble for many soldier die, and many egiuipment destroy, just let go another atomic bomb once and for all.............

I am sorry to tell you NO, because USA is fighting who ever against USA, there is NO high moral is it's strategy.
USA Government, -not people- is not fighting to maintain peace all over the world, or Justice, USA is fighting seeking POWER even if this means killing Innocent people and claim that they are fighting terrorism.
What the people of any nation or any country want or think regarding peace in their lives have absolutely nothing to do with the government agenda, open up you eyes, do you think any of those WH people care for your loss, or my loss, you and me, and those normal people who go to school and work and trying to live are the only ones who suffer and hope and build, while governments , destroy, bomb, kill , pretending that they are fighting terrorism, but in fact they are seeking world domination, trillions of money, oil, and power.

You seem to forget two things.
1,these terrorists hate and try to kill anyone who doesn't do as they want.
2,they started this war, they weren't getting revenge on our soldiers, they just hate us for being us.
And the media won't tell some of the good news of this war, like the fact that almost half the people who came forward to fight on the side of the insurgents have been killed (far more of them killed then of us),and even the terrorists admit they aren't really winning. They just keep on fighting out of hatred for those who are different from them.
They will always hate and want to kill us,no matter what we do,because we are not them.

No, because America is almost like terrorists themselves. You cannot go into a war, any war for that matter and reek havoc on so many people and kill the innocent and not be called a terrorist, because what are terrorists exactly? In my opinion anyone that cause severe damages and human casualties.

No, though I believe we are doing the right thing there will always be terrorists around. The only thing that we can do is to try and eliminate as much as possible so that the threat will be much lower. So far that is what the US has been trying to do. You are correct in that an idea can never be abolished but its affect can be reduced

Any wonder why the party of the liberals have lost every national election since 1992?

I am grateful to read the comments of so many people understanding the horrendous reality of what is really going on. Except for that fishy guy, that is.
I hope there is a trend here and it is not because all the followers of the prophet George are all sleeping.
