Get a book called "London" by Edward Rutherford. It's written in novel form, but is an incredibly detailed history of England from the beginning of time. It's fascinating and easy to follow. He covers the purtian age thoroughly. Amazon.com has it.

The Puritain revolution in england was lead by Oliver Cromwell...Cromwell's army defeated the Cavaliers taking over the English government..he was then overthrown and Charles the ?? took over

I know that Cromwells army had a specific name but I can't think of it and I don't know which Charles it was
