I'm mixed on this. I would like to see them go open wide on the plate races, but I also don't wnat to see them taken out of that track in a body bag, and I have the scariest feeling that it would happen... you have some driver's who could handle it, and a lot more who couldn't and going that fast it would cause more problmes when one of them couldn't. It bottles it up and makes racing interesting, but damn, could you imagine at like 230..whow mama, but it's not worth any of their lives.

It's a plate with holes that are smaller than those within the intake manifold and the carburetor. It is used to restrict the amount of air & fuel mixture thus reducing horsepower and slowing the cars down on the two biggest superspeedway; Talladega and Daytona. This plate keep the speeds below 200 MPH, but before the plate was mandated, the fastest speed at one of these tracks was Bill Elliot @ 212 mph.

How many of you brain donors actually read the question? Did the asker ask what they were? Then by God don't tell him. He simply asked if you are for or against them. I am against them. They stifle competition and everyone bunches up. Very dangerous.

nascar uses them at 2 race tracks , Daytona and Talladega. it restricts the amount of air that the carb can take in. thus limits the speed and horse power
