I had really bad acne as a teenager but it would clear up in the summers when we spent most of our time at the beach. I think that salt water helps. Chlorinated pools may help, also, though because I've read that Chlorine dries the skin.
One note, when swimming in salt water, be careful of open sores. Here, in the Gulf of Mexico, we have trouble with a problem known as "flesh eating bacteria" that lives in our waters sometimes. It can kill you in a matter of days. Be sure to check with officials regarding bacterial counts, etc.

Swimming is unrelated to acne. Acne is the result of overactive sebaceous glands due to hormonal changes, so foods tend not to affect break outs either. Good skin care helps. Dermatological help may be needed for some cases. Exercise helps every organ in the body including the skin. Swim as long as you can in your life. It's fun and beneficial. Have fun.

The good:The excercise improves circulation.
The bad: excessive drying of the skin may cause it to rebound by being oilier than usual, aggravating acne.
