I think it would.....a few years ago in brazil, i saw that that's what all the brazilians do.

Is it the type 1 or type 4 either way the cover souldnt make much differance check that the intake boot is intact and that the ducts are clear. sometimes a scoop over the intake ducts helps

To a small extent, yes. If you have an overheating problem it is better that you fix it. May be as simple as blowing out the vents leading to the engine compartment.
