Also known as words that are [emotionally] loaded, such words have connotations, or associations, that are typically used to sway a reader/listener:
Writers Michael Frisbeee, et. al, give this example: Democrats = bleeding-heart liberals.

To determine the difference between direct language and emotionally-loaded language, consider which word or phrase is more descriptive; when you close your eyes, which do you get a sense of visually, auditorally, etc.?

Here are a few for practice:

*homeless person ---> *bum
*malicious software ---> *scumware
*high-cholesterol food ---> *heart attack waiting to happen
*volunteer ---> *goody two-shoes
*astrologer ---> *charlatan

Discrimination-- which means "to sort between," but which has now become so associated with prejudice and bias based on race, sex, sexuality, class, age, etc. that the word's original sense has become almost unusable (although it persists in some health care fields, in which one may speak of a "difficulty with object discrimination" i.e. telling between objects).
