Hi Rachel T., my name is Hank. My favorite author is Isaac Asimov. His imagination sets him apart from other authors. His ability to write tedious details is amazing.
My next favorite is Frederick Pohl. Pohl created a civilization from bowling balls. He not only created the civilization, he made it sound plausible. That puts the him right up there with Asimov.
My next favorite author is Jose Farmer. He's (she's) the author responsible for the Riverboat series of novels.

For Epic Fantasy, an old love and still a favorite, I have to go with J.R.R Tolkien and the Lord of the Rings trilogy, after all the man just about set the standard for the epic fantasy genre.
Currently my favorite epic fantasy author is Tad Williams,
for both the Memory, Sorrow and Thorn trilogy, Otherland
series, and the new Shadowmarch, with book 2 coming out
around Feburary of 2007.
I love world-building, multi-layered characters and good writing.
For mystery I like John Dunning and the Bookman Series.
There are just too many to list as my favorites

A. W. Tozer is one of my favorite authors because when I read his books like The Pursuit of God or Knowledge of The Holy I can tell that he obviously has spent a lot of time reading the Bible and meditating on God's character and comparing what we usually think about who God is and how He operates in this world with what the actual logical conclusions would be if we questioned our assumptions and compared them to how God has revealed Himself to mankind in the Bible.
If you want to check out either of those books, there's a link to Knowledge of The Holy on the Free Stuff page @ http://web.express56.com/~bromar/ near the bottom where it says "Glorify His Name" as the link site.
You can also read In Pursuit of God by downloading the Free e-Sword Bible Study software and locating the Free add on resource I think.

Michael R. LaMontagne and Ronald E. Snyder. Their book King Fortis the Brave is one of the best books I've ever read. I've recommended it to several students and they have all loved it!
