A good processor, the rest will operate just fine, I either have a pentium or amd athlon.. no generics for me even thought they might be cheaper they are cheap!!

It depends on what you are going to use it for.
In general, get the fastest CPU and most memory you can afford - that is the way to stave off obsolesence for as long as possible.
If you are going ot use it for gaming, be sure to also get the best video card you can afford.
To be more specific, I'd have to know more about how you plan to use it.
