If you own your own business, the customer can never be "too anal". The first rule in customer service is that the customer is always right. If you can't accept this mindset, it is better not to be in a customer service type of job, either working for yourself or someone else!

stop working for some body who will going to ruin your daily life. Go for the Internet business that requires less of your time and the one that will not make you feel headache with web designing or which require IT knowledge. Second, choose the internet based company which offer you the opportunity and at the same time giving you the convenience to start the business where all the things are automated. Third, choose the business which does not require big money to start it. Think again, when you are earning money from the internet, you have the chance to get rid from an income tax.

If I were you I would keep going. Working for someone else can be just as bad or worse. You could go to work one day and get fired for no reason and then where would you be. In today's workplace people aren't respected nor does their work experience make a difference. You are much better off working for yourself. You know you can count on you and you won't fire yourself. Some people can be anal, but you will always have those. Just smile and keep on keeping on.

Well in your case this sounds like something maybe dealing with construction. I would not give up but I would continue to network... I would use the people who are giving me a hard time as a means of finding new people who wouldnt give me a hard time.... but no!, I wouldnt quit... tell your wife that times may be hard for a min. but If you really believe in yourself then try and try again. I understand that you do have kids but If your making enough to pay rent and keep the lights on the just make cut backs in the house until you bounce back.

Check out what the people are really complaining about. Can you improve your service? try taking a bit more of their advice and see if things get better. If not, then throw in the towel. Listening to the customer may be the way to remain your own boss.

I have been a self employed cabinetmaker for 20 years and have never had a displeased customer. It doesn't matter what type of work you do, you have to be more anal than your customers. It's a work ethic...it's a reflection on you. You seem to be blaming everyone but yourself.
